They came to Indiana in 1836 and settled quietly inBoone township, where the father of the family secured a farm and setabout the business of farming. In that early day Indians infested thecountry, and he carried on his work at the risk of his life, subjected tothe many annoyances of the tribes that were more or less hostile tothe white invaders of their territory. Daniel Weyand served as thefirst postmaster of Royal Center. He was a stanch and true Democratand was ever active in the ranks of the party. He served his townshipas trustee for years, and was long a prominent man in the town andcounty. He and his faithful wife became the parents of a family ofseven sons, of which number two sui-vive at this time: Enoch, now a. SLc.^fe,^^
