Chronic post-nasal catarrh is an extension of the rhinitis into thepharynx. It is distinguished by discomfort or pain in the soft palateand posterior nares. The same perversionof the senses of taste, smell, hearing, and of the voice occurs as in acuterhinitis. Headache seems to be due to the condition of the pharynx.(See Atrophic Rhinitis.) Dry Catarrh, or Rhinitis Sicca. Dry catarrh, or rhinitis sicca, is also chronic in its course, and is accom-panied by tingling and dryness of the nostrils. A faint, musty odor isdetected, but there is no discharge or sense of obstruction. In severecases there may be sharp pain in the nose extending to the forehead. Syphilitic Coryza.
