Flint knife, prehistoric reconstruction. Theories on the techniques and methods used by prehistoric peoples are developed and tested by palaeo-experimenters. Here, French palaeo-experimenter Florent Rivere is wrapping leather around a flint to form the handle of a stone blade. Rivere's reconstruction work is carried out at sites in the Dordogne region of France, and in the Pyrenees, where excavations have uncovered artifacts and tools used by prehistoric Stone Age cultures dating back tens of thousands of years.
