Gattonside Footbridge was built in 1826 by John Smith and John Stevenson Brown of the contractors Redpath and Brown. It connected the village of Gattonside and the town of Melrose and stands over the River Tweed. It has been refurbished/rebuilt twice first in 1928 and then again in 1992 so it is no longer in its original state.
