Cpl. R. H. Ingleston of the American military captured a photograph on August 5, 1918, in Fere en Tardenois, France. The image shows German soldiers who were killed during an encounter with the 167th Regiment Infantry, lying in a hole. The photograph was later held by censor and released on August 24, 1918.
