She has remained well to this date, Jan. 26, 1916, over sevenyears from the time of beginning treatment. Case 4.—Miss H., aged 50, referred by Dr. Deaver, Nov. 2, 1912. She had been operated upon forcarcinoma of the breast by Dr. Deaver in June, 19H. She noticed a recurrence in September, first seen by me there was a tumor about the size of half a hens egg at the middle of the scar, firmly adherent to the ribs, and Dr. Deaver considered her inoperable. Under a;-ray treatment, this hascompletely disappeared. She has regained perfect health, and so far as we can tell, she is perfectly welltoday, over three years since the development of an inoperable recurrence. When recently examined, she was in perfect health, and has no evidence in the skin to indicate where the former disease had beennor where she had been treated. This case comes more nearly under our more modern Fig. 267.—Mrs. L. Photograph made September 15, 1914. Showing adherent, ulcerating scirrhouscarcinoma before electro-coagulation and Roentgen treatment. Case 5.—Mrs. M., aged 48, referred by Dr. John B. Deaver, Oct. 28, 1914. Had had her rightbreast amputated Sept. 22, 1913. She had noticed a tumor for nine months. For five months precedingthe operation she had received some Roentgen-ray treatment in another city without the operation she received some post-operative treatment near her home. At the time she wasreferred to me, she had a recurrent carcinoma half the size of a hens egg, firmly attached to the third andfourth ribs and the interspace between them. The patient was given eight full doses of rays througheight different areas of skin, cross-firing as much as possible upon the diseased area, each dose of filteredrays representing , or a total of This series was given Oct. 28, N
