COKELY, 201 North Seventh Avenue, SCRANTON, PA. What an inspiration it would be to those children to have half an hour with Dennis Conner and to hear his happy descriptions of the exhibits! Why, it would make horticulturists of half of them and life-long flower lovers of the remainder. The exhibit of the Charles H. Totty Co., of Madison, N. J., had great educa- tional value. The hardy little pompons, singles and anemones attracted many amateurs. The new and standard vari- eties in the same types from A. N. Pier- son, Cromwell, Conn., were of great educational value in affording oppor- tunity for comparison between old and new. Club Meeting. The December meeting of the Florists' Club was held in the City Club, Broad street, Tuesday evening, December 7. Charles H. Totty, of Madison, N. J., was the speaker of the evening. Mr. Totty gave an interesting account of his trip abroad. He described the carnations grown in England by W. E. Wallace in American-built houses, the finest plants he ever saw, eight feet in height, with wonderful flowers. The exhibits included Christmas flow- ering plants from the Robert Craig Co., among them some marvelous cyclamens; decorative plants from William K. Har- ris; foliage wreaths and holly from Her- man Fimmer, and specimens of the two roses, American Legion and The Oem, from Edward Towill. The attendance was large. Various Notes. Jesse A
