The export returns of sheep for June last, given in the recently-issued Trade and NavigationReturns, show that during the past month 248head were exported. This number is, with theexception of that for June, 1902—when but 211head were exported—the lowest total of sheep ex-ported in this month since June, 1896. Another reference to the same source of informa-tion shows the average declared value forthese to have been £9 2s. 5d. each. This aver-age is one which cannot hardly be accepted asindicative of the actual value, bearing inmind the high prices that have been publiclygiven for stud rams. We may also remark thatthe average for the past month—£9 2s. 5d.—is£1 Is. 7d. per head less than tho same item forthe corresponding period of 1904. Ihe results of the export demand for the firstsix months of this year compares favourably withthe same period of 1904, the number exportedhaving been 1,624 head, or per cent. higher averages of the first fiv
