The restored South Transept roof of York Minster which was badly damaged by a fire on July 9th 1984. The photograph shows the roof with 68 gilded wooden headstones or "bosses" that are 100 feet from the floor. The photograph is taken from the Rose Window balcony. York Minster is the largest Gothic Cathedral in Europe.
