The Britannia Bridge over Menai Strait, North Wales
The Menai Strait viewed from the top of the Marquess of Anglesey's Column in Llanfair, Anglesey. The Britannia Bridge was designed by William Fairbairn and Robert Stephenson opened in 1850 to carry rail traffic, it now has a double deck carrying road and rail. The Marquess of Anglesey's column was built in 1817 and has 115 steps to the public viewing platform.
