Funeral services were held from the late residence. Normal, Dec. 10th,in charge of the Rev. J. W. Sommerville, pastor of First Church, Bloom-ington, assisted by the Rev. R. E. Smith, pastor of First M. E. Church,Normal. The remains were taken by train to Urbana and laid besidethose of her husband. Her four sons, and two grandsons were present atthe impressive funeral services. 1910 MEMOIRS 185 RACHEL HENRY WEST. u ACHEL HENRY was bornin Limavady, County Der-ry, Ireland, Dec. 16, 1833. She wasmarried to Henry Salthouse in them were born four children:Mrs. R. S. Simpson, John T. andHenry L., all of McPherson, Kansas,and Mrs. D. H. Henschie, who diedlast July. Mr. Salthouse died in April, 1864, she was married to theRev. James M. West, who was formore than forty-eight years a memberof the Illinois Conference. One son,James A., of Urbana, blessed thisunion. Brother West went to his re-ward Nov. 8, 1906, and his devotedwife joined him Jan. 11, 1910, fromMcPherson, Kansas. Blessed with good health and un-tiring energy. Sister West dischargedfaithfully the duties of the wife of anitinerant Methodist minister. Hersympathy responded quickly to theneeds of the sick and sorrowful; herinterest in all departments of churchwork was unfailing and her buoyant faith and hope where delight was to poi
