While many individual embarrassments were pointed out, it was the consensus of opinion that Mr. Therkildson and his committee had ob- tained the best that could reasonably be expected. In opening the discussion Mr. Ther- kildson said that the greatest difficulty encountered under the parcel post is in pricing catalogues, since the application of the zone rates makes the cost of de- livery differ widely as between near-by and distant customers; also it makes it impossible for seedsmen in different cities to quote approximately the same delivered prices for the whole country, since no two houses, if located in .dif- ferent cities, can figure on the same basis. It was the consensus of opinion that the trade requires the elimination of the zones and resolutions to that ef- fect were adopted. Papers and Discussions. The following papers were read dur- ing the early part of the meeting: "Selling Seeds at Wholesale—Catalogues, Sur- plus Usts and Circulars," by Watson S. Wood- ruff. Orange, Conn. "Printers' Ink Advertising—Farm Journals and General Advertising," by A. E. McKenzle, Bran- don, Man. „ , "Trial Grounds and Their Advantages to Seeds- men," by W. W. Tracy, Washington, D. C. "The Cental System of SellinR Seeds and Its Advantages," by F. W. Bruggerhof, New York. "The Proper Use of the Disclaimer," by Curtis Nye Smith, Boston. ^ ,, ^, ^ &q
