Protesters from the "More Light, More Power" campaign, who all oppose a proposed £800 million high-rise Bishopsgate Goods Yard development scheme meeting outside Tower Hamlets Town Hall in Mulberry Place before lobbying the council planning meeting. Protesters are lobbying both Hackney and Tower Hamlets council meetings this evening, who would need to approve the scheme if it is to go ahead. The 10 acre site, which is the largest brownfield space close to the City of London would see the construction of almost 1,500 homes in seven towers of up to 46 storeys. © London

Protesters are lobbying both Hackney and Tower Hamlets council meetings this evening, who would need to approve the scheme if it is to go ahead. A formal request has been made to the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson to take over as planning authority, effectively removing remove the Tower Hamlets and Hackney local councils from the planning process.
