Blaschkoallee Underground U-bahn railway station serves the U7 Line, Britz, Neukölln, Berlin. Interior with large tiles and photograph The station was designed Werner Düttmann and was part of the first southwest extension of the U7 after the 1930s. It opened on September 28, 1963 and was named Buschkrug The walls were covered with white ceramic tile and the supports were clad with red clinker bricks Accommodation was urgently needed in Berlin after the war and housing estates were constructed in peripheral locations. These were to be better connected to the city centre through the expansion of the transport network, including lengthening underground Line C (now the U7). The extension of this line connected the large housing estates on the south-eastern edge of the city with the West Berlin transport network and the centre around the Zoologischer Garten railway station. Bruno Taut’s famous Hufeisensiedlung (Horseshoe Estate) built in the 1920s together with later extensions, housed a total of 35,000 inhabitants, and Gropiusstadt, built from 1962 onwards accommodated 65,000 inhabitants The station was renovated in 2014 and provided with an escalator and an elevator, making it barrier-free. It is now named after the road on which it is situated, Blaschoallee. The refurbishment included replacement of the wall cladding with attractive tiles and wall panels containing photographs replaced advertisements
