The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site was opened Oct. 11 at Moton Field in Tuskegee, Ala. The site is dedicated to the Tuskegee Airmen no longer with us. A memorial for two of the Airmen who passed away recently was recognized and their ashes were sprinkled on the airfield. Moton Field in the 1940s was the only primary flight training facility for the first African American pilot candidates in the Army Air Corps, these pilots are known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
