Electron microscopy copper grid. In electron microscopy, samples are often placed onto a copper grid ready for viewing. Electron microscopes use electrons to examine samples at a higher magnification than would be possible using visible light. Since electrons have a smaller wavelength than visible light, the magnifications can be up to two million times greater than light microscopes.
