These threespecimens were found within twenty or thirty feet of eachother, after a heavy shower had made the most favorable con-ditions for their discovery. My own first visit to the locality was in November, 1880,in company with Professors W. Boyd Dawkins, Henry , and H. Carvill Lewis, when we were conducted byDr. Abbott to the various localities favorable for investiga-tion. Professor Lewis and myself also repeatedly visited the MAN AND THE GLACIAL PERIOD. 629 locality afterward.
