Also some account of the related families. June 1371 (Antiq. of Aberdeen, Jos. Robertson) to Robert II. in whichhe styles himself humilis nepos, complaining of the way in which all hispossessions, and also those of his brother Hugh, lying within Buchan, hadbeen taken from him by force and fraud, and given by the late King to SirWalter de Lesley. This complaint met with no result; a few months laterhe died at Delny. 9th February 1371-72 (Kalender of Feme), his only son,William, having died before him. In 1354 his son was proposed as one ofthe hostages for the payment of the Kings ransom (Acts of Parliament),but in August. 1357 he was too ill to travel to England, and must have diedbefore the end of the year. Therefore, in virtue of the new charter, theEarls two daughters became heirs-portioners. William, Earl of Ross, Johnde Berclay, Thomas de Moravia (brother of the grantor) and others werewitnesses to a charter by John de Moravia, granting certain lands in thebarony of Awath to his consanguines, Andrew de Ros, son of the late. Joanna or Janet, who died before 1400. having married in 1375 Sir Alexander Fraser of Cowie, who, 4th June 1375, obtained a charter from Sir Walter Lesley in favour of him and his wife of the lands of Philorth and others, in compensation for their lands in Ross (confirm.
