Athens, Greece, 01/11/2011. Part of the frieze of the "Annunciation of Virgin Mary" is removed from the Parthenon for restoration. The frieze is one of the few to be spared from destruction by Christians when they turned the temple into a church.

1 November 2011 Athens Greece. Transportation from the Parthenon of the 32nd part of the ancient frieze by the name of "Annunciation of Virgin Mary" for restoration. It was the only part to "escape" the destruction by the Christians who had scraped off the rest of the parts. It gained its name because it reminded them of the image of the Annunciation of Virgin Mary. That's the reason why they didn't destroy it.
