Perseus with Medusa's head. 19th-century artwork of a page from an 11th-century English illuminated manuscript now held at the British Library. This page is from the Cotton manuscript collection, depicting the constellation and legend of Perseus and the gorgon Medusa. This artwork was published in a paper by British art historian William Young Ottley (1771-1836) on manuscripts relating to versions of the famous Aratea poem on the constellations, translated by Cicero. Part of the poem is at bottom. Published in Volume 26 (1835-6) of 'Archaeologia', the journal of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
