Volcanic eruption injuries. Scarred feet of Pak Heri, a man injured in the November 2010 eruptions of Gunung Merapi (Mount Merapi), one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes. Heri ran through material left behind by a pyroclastic flow. He rescued two sons, but lost other members of his family. This volcano (2930 metres) is located on the island of Java, 28 kilometres north of the city of Yogyakarta. The 2010 eruptions, thought to be the largest since the 1870s, killed around 350 people and led to over 350,000 being evacuated. Photographed in March 2011, in Kentingan, Ngemplak, near Yogyakarta.
