'Raglan Castle, seven miles to the south-west of the town of Monmouth, the most modern of the ancient castles in the county, was built in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and its architecture ranges through the various styles of the period between Henry V. and Charles I. The remains of the castle cover an area which measures a third of a mile in circumference' (1894). Artist/photographer: Unsigned.
