Toronto, Ontario, Canada. December 29th, 2019. After four decades of service to Toronto commuters, the Toronto Transit Commission's Canadian Light Rail Vehicle (CLRV) streetcars make their last runs through the core of the city. Today marks the final day of service of the venerable icon, which was first introduced in 1979. To mark the occasion, the last streetcars are running as free service along Queen Street to commemorate the final day of service. The fleet is being replaced by 204 Bombardier low-floor streetcars. After they are removed from operations several CLRV vehicles will be retained and preserved by the TTC and transit museums in Canada and the USA.
