Maxillary extending to below middle of eye; lower jaw strongly projecting; barbel shorter than diameter of eye, blunt, papillose; 7 to 10 short, knob-like gill-rakers on lower part of anterior arch. Dorsal II-III, 25; spines low; anterior part of soft dorsal sometimes elevated. Anal 17-18.
