There is scarcely a Catholic college or academyin New York in which medals have not been given by thepastor of St. James to stimulate the pupils to excellence. With a buoyant disposition, cheered by the devotedaffection of his flock, who know his fidelity and char-ity, the Rev. Mr. FaiTelly does not show the effect ofhis nearly quarter of a century of earnest labor inNew York City; yet it has told on liis health, and he isno longer as robust and vigorous as of old. Infirmitiesand disease not easily eradicated from the system arenow struggling for mastery.
