Navajo hogan with loom and papoose in Monument Valley, Navajo Tribal Lands, Utah, USA
These were traditional items in a Navajo Hogan which is a winter home built of logs and adobe (sunbaked mud). A stove is in the middle of the dwelling and it has an earth floor. Lucy Fatt and a younger Navajo woman gave a demonstration of Navajo skills such as wool carding, spinning and weaving. She also showed how they ground the corn or maize and how the women tied up their glossy black hair.
