Cardiovascular fitness. Physio- logical testing of a woman using an upper body ergometer. The subject moves the hand grips against a resistance friction to create different levels of effort. Before, during and after the test various physiological measurements may be taken such as heart electrocardiograms, blood pressure, respiration rate and lung volume. These data may be combined with blood samples to determine how well the body copes with the physiological stress of exertion. The data may then be used to develop a cardiovascular fitness training programme for the subject.
