Light micrograph of the slipper-shaped, ciliate protozoan Paramecium sp., showing several green food vacuoles. The vacuoles contain the remains of the creature's last meal; Euglena sp. flagellate protozoans and a number of diatoms. Paramecium are common inhabitants of water & soil. They move by beating the fine hairs (cilia) which cover their bodies. Magnification unknown.
