The range was conducted to refresh and exchange techniques on firing the M252 81mm and 120mm mortars in preparation for an upcoming deployment to Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The Marines are scheduled to deploy as part of Task Force Southwest to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Army 215th Corps and 505th Zone National Police.
