The overburden of the heap comes from the Rheinpreussen colliery, which was the first left bank of the Rhine mine. So this heap was also one of the first well-founded heaps in the Ruhr area. In order to develop the heap as a landmark, the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) decided in 2005 to erect a 30 meter high tower in the form of a miner's lamp on the heap. The design for the sculpture -The Geleucht - comes from the artist Otto Piene. View of the sculpture The jaded on the heap.
