Sculpture with information (see notes) on Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval near Bakkagerði village, Borgarfjörður Eystri, north east Iceland.
Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval lived in this towwn as a child and often used the landscape in his work. The information panel had worn and was unclear but seemed to indicate that a famous altarpiece created by Jóhannes Sveinsson Kjarval was injspired and based on the view from this point ("Sermon on the Mount", I have been unable to trace this painting/altarpiece. "Borgarfjörður is the home of the Queen of Elves. It is possible to walk to the hill "Álfaborg" - "The Elves´Castle" where the queen of the Icelandic elves allegedly resides with her court."
