He suc-tecded to the throne with his mother (Anne of Austria) as Queen regent,Jn 1643. In 1720,they attacked an English fishing station at Canseau, killedsome of the settlers, and destroyed property to the amount of$100,000. They also boarded ships and plundered them, andeven attacked the fort at Annapolis. At length an expeditionwas sent from Massachusetts up the Kennebec against theirprincipal village ai Nor-ridge-wo-ack.
