Principal roofs are ofshingles; veranda and porch-roofs of tin. Floors of 8-inch spruce, tongued and grooved. Windows in cellarhave three-light sash hung with butts. Other windowshave eight-light sash hung to weights. All doors arefour-panelled. Casings for the first story are 5-inchreeded; for second story, 5-inch plain; base to matchcasings. Plastering of both stories, two full coats andwhite finished. Painting, two coats of best pump, sink, and tank are provided, connected withsuitable pipes (see fig. 27). This practical method ofplumbing may be used anywhere for country houses. It isquite free from complications, and the several parts maybe obtained ready fitted, so that with pipe-tong and ascrew-driver, any mechanic should be able to connect andset up the whole in working order.
