The toe of beach was situated well landward of the positions surveyed in pre- tsunami surveys on the eastern extremity of the island (Fig 13 d). However, elsewhere the toe of beach was generally seaward of the earlier positions, especially along the southern shore (Fig. 13 e, f). Of note, the total beach area increased by % and extended across a further 2,900 m2 of reef flat -1 E.
