Night view double-deck Heritage Balloon Tram at the South Shore Turning Circle illuminations tour stop, Blackpool Illuminations

The English Electric Balloon is a type of double-deck tram operated on the Blackpool Tramway from 1934 to the tramway's updating to a modern light railway in 2012. Officially known as a 'Luxury Dreadnought', it was a replacement for the Dreadnought Trams from the early years of the Blackpool Tramway. Its rounded, stream-lined appearance, however, resulted in it being called a 'Balloon Tram'. The tram has central doors and stairs. Some of the type were open-topped.
