Garden with Cacti and the Devil representing volcanos, Puerta del Carmen, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. Lanzarote has very little rain and 25% of it is covered by lava so cannot be cultivated. The most common plants are cacti and succulents. Lanzarote is a volcanic island and has many volcanoes which erupted so violently during the 18th and 19th Centuries that people felt that devil had arrived.
