In this case bacteria have infected the skin causing it to become inflamed (red area). Dead infection-fighting white blood cells have accumulated in the wound as pus (yellow). Blood has clotted over part of the ulcer causing a scab (black). Treatment includes antibiotics and dressing the ulcer to prevent further infection.
