AHMED aka Monarch of Marsabit lived in the scrubland and forests of the Northern Frontier District NFD in Kenya Although physically small in body he posessed enormous tusks and was well protected by park rangers He became world famous when the President of Kenya Jomo Kenyatta declared AHMED as a living national monument He died at an estimated age of between 55 and 60 of natural causes in 1974 and each tusk was weighed and found to be 148lbs
