A plaque on the house and workshop studio of the painter Willy Mucha in Collioure, southern France

The sign reads: 'in this house lived and worked the painter WILLY MUCHA from 1940 to 1995. The friends of Willy Mucha.' Willy Mucha was born in Warsaw in 1905 where he studied under the Polish painter Wladyslaw Skockzylas. He met many artists in pre-war Paris but is most associated with the small town of Collioure in Southern France where he was friendly with painters such as Dali, Dufy and Edouard Pignon. He said that wherever his workshop was situated, he was always painting the light of Collioure.
