China: Empress Xie (1135 - 13 June 1207), consort of Emperor Xiaozong, 11th ruler of the Song Dynasty and 2nd ruler of the Southern Song Dynasty (). Hanging scroll painting, 1162-1207. Empress Xie, personal name Sufang and also known as Chengsu, was consort to Emperor Xiaozong. Initially serving as Emperor Xiaozong's concubine, she was appointed to empress after the death of Empress Xia, Emperor Xiaozong's second empress. She had no surviving children with the emperor, and went into retirement with him when he abdicated in 1189.
