My own mail, outside ofthat to the subscription and Advertisingdepartments, often comprises as manyas 100 letters in a day, each one ofWhich I tiirow about, if I do not read,mark and inwardly digest. Of thesemany are from friends or acquaintanceswith whom I am glad to keep up cor-respondence, and yet even these lettersurn a heavy though pleasant tax upontho time of a busy woman, for ouo can-not dictate an intimate letter or a letterof condolence or ceremony, or, in fact,any kind of personality, and most peo-ple feel a little annoyed at receiving atypewritten communication, except uponmatters of pure business. But, these quasi welcome letters dis-posed of, there comes the grand army ofunwelcome applicants for time, thoughtand reply or nonreply. Not long since 1 gave a small
