Church of St Sulpice, Paris

The view taken in 1828, shows the Church of St Sulpice, commenced in 1646 by Louis Levau. His designs were elaborate by Oppenord, Servandoni (portico), Maclaurin and Chalgrin (the towers of unequal height). The interior is very beautiful with a pulpit designed by Wailly with magnificent decorations. There are fine paintings in the church by Carlo Vanloo. The image shows the West Front together with groups of people in the courtyard outside. The image was drawn by A Pugin and engraved by J Tingle
