Wintry shadows on the historic Guildhall, Stirling.
Built between 1639 and 1649 with funds bequeathed by John Cowane, a wealthy Stirling merchant it originally offered charity to unsuccessful merchants or 'gildbreithers'. The building was later used as a school and epidemic hospital. Originally of two storeys the main part of the building was altered in 1852 to form a Guildhall with balcony, gallery and elongated windows in the main hall. There is a statue of John Cowane above the doorway is known locally as Auld Staneybreeks.
