Pohatu Marine Reserve, which is centred on Flea Bay, lies on the SE side of the Banks Peninsula near Akaroa, South Island New Zealand. As well as many marine creatures Plea Bay has two types of breeding penguins, the yellow eyed and the little blue. There is a penguin breeding and rescue centre at the bay. Visitors may stay there to observe the penguins in their natural breeding habitat. It is a far cry from some of the highly commercial penguin viewing "experiences" elsewhere on South Island.
