Y. DETROIT. The Market. Business has been exceedingly good for the time of year, and the quality of stock on tlie market has been excellent. There has been a ready sale for Beau- ties, as a number of openings of new stores required flowers of that nature. Short and medium length Beauties have also been of fine quality and sell well. The supply and quality of roses has been good. To fill the requirements for numerous weddings, the call for white roses has been heavy. Valley is also in good demand. Dahlias are just now arriving in quan- tities, and if the pleasant weather con- tinues, no doubt the market will be well taken care of with this beautiful fall flower. This has been a good sea- son for asters and but few of inferior quality have been seen on the market, while the supply of good stock has been plentiful but not more than the demand. Club Meeting. The writer made an error in giving Mr. Kolbe's name as the Detroit Flo- rists' Club's librarian. E. A. Scribner has been appointed by our president. At the last meeting Frank Danzer gave an interesting talk on his experi- ences and observations during his stay in Europe, giving in detail the condi- tions in Germany when hostilities were begun.
