The fatherand mother of Mr. Walter were also na-tives of that county. His grandfatherwas a Revolutionary soldier. Mrs. Wal-ters father was born in Saratoga Co., , and her mother in Windham Co., grandfather, John Tubbs, was one ofthe six men comprising the guard of gen-eral Schuyler, when, in 1781, the Britishcommander sent out a party of toriesand Indians under John W. Meyer, tocapture him at his home, in Albany N. and Mrs. Walter have two sons. J. now living in Oregon, and S A., who fin-ished his education at the Iowa Normal aP ^pv.
