Visitors to the first day of the week-long King Boat Festival in Donggang in southern Taiwan on October 28, 2018 enter the beach where the ceremonies take place. During the tri-annual festival, one of Taiwan’s largest folk-religious festivals, gods are invited down to earth, celebrated for a week and asked to help rid the community of bad luck and disease for the coming three years.
