In the section of light machinery and horology, associate curator Edwin A. Battison completed the first draft of a translation of Jacques Besson's Theatrum Instruinentarwiii et Machinamm from the 16th- century French with the assistance of summer intern Bruce H. Wliite. Since this work has not been previously available in English, this translation will be a significant contribution to the history of technol- ogy.
