Cloister of San Salvador in Breda in the region of La Selva province of Gerona,Catalonia,Spain

Of the Romanesque cloister only one gallery remains, attached to the church. The rest was destroyed in the 19th century, except for another gallery, transferred to a private house in Blanes at the beginning of the 20th century. The preserved wing is made up of a series of semicircular arches supported by pairs of columns with identical capitals, stylized vegetal types. It can be dated towards the end of the 13th century, in the transition period from Romanesque to Gothic. Inside are the tombs of the abbots Bernat de Blanes, Miquel Sampsó I and Gispert de Jafer. It was restored in 1931 under the direction of Jeroni Martorell. Breda is a small municipality located in the eastern parts of Montseny, within the region of La Selva. Breda has been recorded since the 11th century, when it was a rural town, but it cannot be considered a fully settled population until 200 years later.
