Creation of the Earth. Conceptual artwork of the Earth's creation. The hands symbolize the creation of the Earth by divine means, and are based upon Michelangelo's painting The Creation of Adam. This painting is on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican City, Rome, Italy, and represents the story of the creation of Adam by God in the Judeo-Christian religion. The Genesis story in the Bible says that the Earth was created in six days and nights. Scientists believe that the Earth was formed from a cloud of gas and dust soon after the Sun formed from the same cloud some billion years ago.
